ARRL JANUARY VHF Sweepstakes Contest: Jan 20-21, 2007:

The contest begins 10:00 am AST Saturday and ends 7:00 pm Sunday. Operate all bands 50-MHz
and higher. For details go to the ARRL contest webpage: January VHF Sweepstakes.

Send me your plans for the contest to be listed here:
  • KL7UW will operate from home on USB: 50.125/144.200/432.100/1296.100, and FM: 50.30/146.55/446.00/1296.00. He is working on a 220-MHz transverter and awaiting a 927.5-MHz FM radio (under repair by KL7FZ) but these will not be QRV by the contest weekend. Antennas for 6m/2m/1.25m/70cm/33cm/23cm are now up.
Turnout for the VHF Contest was disappointing. KL7UW only worked two stations on 144.200 and an attempt on 446.000 MHz was unsuccessful. Apparently more promotion is needed to get folks interested in the contest. ARRL JUNE VHF QSO Party: June 9-10, 2007: The contest begins 10:00 am AST Saturday and ends 7:00 pm Sunday. Check back for more details on this special VHF DX-pedition; here are text of actual e-mail on their plans.
Google Maps: Results in south-central Alaska were disappointing, but the KL7FF DX-pedition operation was sucessful. KL7UW and NL7OW both contacted Paul, KL7FF on Prince of Wales Island on 6m Friday evening with S9 signals. Sunday morning KL7UW worked KL7FF via 2m meteor scatter and NL7OW worked KL7FF several times on 6m during the weekend...more details on KL7FF webpage and trip wrap-up by K7CW. Exchange of QSL's by KL7UW and K7CW at the PNWVHFS Conference in Bend, OR. Link to Meteor Scatter Procedures.
